Trip to Goa - Learn Active English

Full immersion language trip to Goa, India

India is the second largest English speaking country in the world, so this is an ideal place to improve your English. You can also use the opportunity to experience this incredible country with a fascinating culture and vibrant, friendly people. Goa is a gentle introduction to India with its blend of Indian and Portuguese cultures, where you can enjoy some winter sun by the sea.

Come and try it out for yourself on a language holiday country in beautiful Goa in the south of the country. I visited and fell in love with a fishing village near Palolem more than 10 years ago. The climate between November and February is perfect with average temperatures of 27 degrees Celsius. The relaxed atmosphere on its beautiful beaches with excellent local and international beach restaurants makes it an ideal winter holiday destination.

I offer language trips to Goa, so that you can combine improving your English with a wonderful language holiday by the beach. You will fully immerse yourself in English by using the language all week, speaking English with the friendly locals (and me). You will be using the language authentically enabling you to improve and gain confidence in a fun and natural way. I will be there in case you need any guidance and support, and you will be ‘learning by doing’, ensuring active learning as you go.

We can include an optional short yoga session at sunset if you wish (I am a qualified yoga teacher).

Daily programme:

1. Small group of adults (3 or 4) staying together with the English teacher in a small, friendly hotel, which is a 5 minute walk from the beach, shops and many Indian and international cafes and restaurants.

Monday – Friday includes:

breakfast together
4 English lessons and
3 hours leisure activities ** (with me, all in English) including a meal out * together

* Please note: Any travel and food expenses during this time not included

2. Bed and breakfast with your own en-suite, air-conditioned room

Please note: Price may increase or the lesson and activity details/ length may change slightly if there are less than 3 participants

If there are 5-8 participants, or if you would like a basic room the price will be reduced.

Leisure activities: approx. 3 hours per day – Schedule to be finalised

Monday – Friday (daily activities)

In the afternoon/ evening we will go and explore the beautiful area including some unspoilt beaches such as Turtle Beach, with delicious fish and seafood beach shacks, and more developed beaches like Palolem with its highly rated restaurants. We can go to the Wednesday market in the local town together.

These places can all be accessed on foot, or using local boats and rickshaws. Please note that food and transport costs are not included in the language trip, but minimal at 1, 2 or 3 Euros per ride or 3 to 10 Euros per meal

Weekends

This is your free time to relax, or tours can be organised, which are not included in the price, such as:

– Local boat tours to Butterfly Beach or an early morning dolphin trip
– Spice farm with a guided tour in a local taxi
– Braganza House, Chandor – built in the 17th century and stretching along one whole side of the village square, this is the biggest Portuguese mansion of its kind in Goa

Getting there

Flights, transport, insurance and visas not included (an e-visa is very easy to organise online) and to be arranged by participants. Pick up at Goa airport can be arranged for 35 Euros each, with a driver who I have used for years.

Tour of India

The price above is based on 3 to 4 adults in the group for the dates listed & includes points 1 and 2 i.e. English lessons, accompanied on leisure activities (Monday – Friday), your own double room with en suite bathroom and breakfast, as well as a sunset welcome drink.

Anything not explicitly mentioned above is not included in the price e.g. transport to, from and around Goa, meals and drinks out (which range from 1 to 10 Euros per meal).

Other dates or options possible at your request (for an additional price). For example, you could start your trip:

24/ 26 November in Kochi, Kerala and I can accompany you on leisure activities. You could also choose to go on trips to the tea plantations on the hill stations or to the backwaters. We could then travel by train to Goa together.
